This one was a stamped concrete driveway in West Carmel, about eight years old, sealed once when it was installed and never cleaned since.
Uniform grey across the whole slab, green film along both edges where run-off kept the surface damp, and a dark stripe down the middle where the vehicle parks. The stamped pattern had almost disappeared visually because the recesses had filled with dirt.
Stamped concrete needs care. The colour layer and the sealant coat both sit near the surface, so we reduce pressure and increase distance compared with a plain slab. We pre-treated the whole driveway, let it dwell, then worked it with a surface cleaner at a reduced setting so the coverage stayed even.
The recesses in the stamped pattern needed a separate pass by hand, because a surface cleaner rides across the high points and does not reach into the texture.
Three to four shades lighter, the pattern visible again, and the sealant coat intact. Total time on site was just under four hours.
The owner asked whether it needed resealing. It did, and that is worth doing on stamped concrete because it keeps the next clean easy. But it is a separate job and a separate decision.
